Alternative Energy Efforts-

As part of our effort to be an environmentally conscious farming operation and to declare
our energy independence from foreign and unstable sources we are using and working with
alternative clean domestic sources of energy on our farm.

Since 1993  we derived 90%+ of our heat for our farm from Bio-Mass sources here on the
farm.

In  2006 we converted all of our off-road diesel consumption to Soy based Bio-diesel. - B5
with the hope of increasing this to B20 in the future. All engines over 25hp are fuel efficient
diesels.

We currently use photo voltaic cells to perform some minimal operations on the farm, such
as power for our weather collection system, limited lighting, fence charging, etc. Come see
our solar fan set up at farmers market!

By collecting rain water we reduce the energy needed to pump water from our wells. We
collect 1000's of gallons each year for use on the farm. This also reduces run off issues.

We have been collecting wind data since January 2004, unfortunately our site is not
compatible with wind generation. We have a lot of wind, it is just not sustainable at current
pricing.

We continue to select energy efficient equipment to make the energy we use do more with
less environmental impact.
